On most days, students eat lunch in their classrooms from 12:20 p.m. to 12:40 p.m. under faculty and intermediate student supervision. But occasionally, the students will enjoy dining outside on a warm sunny day!
If students are bringing a lunch from home, they are asked to make it a “boomerang lunch”. This means that they bring all their garbage home, so that they can ensure it is properly recycled, composted, or thrown away. This helps students make a connection between the choices they make and the waste they create.
The KCS Lunch Program is provided four times per week by Kidssentials.com
who provide top quality, nutritious meals for our students. Kidssentials' menus have been designed with children in mind and a focus on healthy food selections. They start with fresh, whole ingredients and prepare all menu items from scratch. All food is prepared in a peanut/nut free, health department-certified catering kitchen and served in compostable or recyclable containers. Kidssentials food is served fresh onsite and then delivered to the classroom for students to enjoy at their desk. No lining up and no lost lunch time!
The KCS Milk Program is run by our Parent Network. It provides a milk daily with choice between white and chocolate and comes in easy-to-use screw-top cartons. Students are provided leadership opportunities
through the ability to deliver the milk to classrooms.
Throughout the year, the KCS Parent Network also provides special lunches. Pizza lunch is held six times a year and there is a special year-end BBQ lunch celebration.
All students require written permission if they are to be taken out for lunch. They must be signed out at 12:20 p.m. and signed back in by their parents or guardians at Reception no later than 1:10 p.m.
Finally, we ask that all families follow our Allergy-Safe
policies when sending any food to school.
