High School Preparation

As much as we’d love to keep our Grade 8 graduates with us forever, we know they need to move on to high school.

So we work very hard to make sure that they end up at a school where they will continue to grow and succeed.

Finding a “best fit” school is not always easy. Luckily, our High School Coordinator – Ms. Lorna Hooper – does an amazing job helping students and their parents navigate the transition to high school.

It all starts with a “finding the best fit” information session, which is held for all Grade 7 parents in the spring. After this, Ms. Hooper offers individual meetings to families, where they can discuss in more depth the various high school options available.

In the fall of Grade 8, each student prepares a resume as part of the application process. They are also offered five in-school SSAT prep sessions, if needed. And as the high school application process continues, Ms. Hooper is available to families for any and all questions.

You want your kid to end up at a high school that understands them, respects them, and keeps moving them along on their learning journey. And so do we.

KCS Alumna, Class of 2016

I want to thank all the teachers I have every had at KCS, [they] have helped me grow as a person and have prepared me for high school. I would not have been the person I am today if it was not for KCS, my home away from home.
