Announcing Allison Macrae as KCS Grade 9 Mathematics Teacher
We are very pleased to announce that Allison Macrae is joining KCS as our founding grade 9 math teacher. Allison has had a distinguished career as a middle and high school math and physical education teacher, with 11 years as an educator at Upper Canada College and four years at Bialik Hebrew Day School. Her passion for inspiring students and helping them realize their potential, not just in math but in life, are evident to all who meet her.
Allison’s commitment to the profession led to her become a Cohort 21
member and, subsequently, Coach and Facilitator. Through Cohort 21, she supports committed groups of teachers in a distinctive year-long professional development opportunity, a role she has been playing each year since 2016. Among the multiple projects she launched as part of this engagement was the Conference of Independent Schools (CIS Ontario) Women’s Network
Allison earned a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) degree as well as a Bachelor of Education degree at Queen’s University. She also earned a Master of Education degree at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
Allison and her husband Nick have three active children, one of whom joined KCS last year and another joining us in September 2021. Her commitment to community and making a difference have led to numerous neighbourhood initiatives, including a lead role in a “Slow Down Kids at Play” campaign, co-chairing the Fern Avenue Public School Council, and serving as a Community Captain for The Toronto Miracle
Allison embodies the attributes and values of KCS and is as excited as we are to help us build an amazing KCS Senior School experience.
