Encouraging Dialogue: Speaker Series 2013 - Understanding Your Child's Brain

In February 2013 KCS held a Speakers Series featuring Dr. Ron Clavier on the topic of understanding your child's brain.

Dr. Clavier is a renowned clinical psychologist with a background in neuroscience. In addition to his private practice, he consults in the corporate, community, health and educational sectors. He is the author of the widely acclaimed book, Teen Brain, Teen Mind: What Parents Need To Know To Survive The Adolescent Years. His television series, Adolescence: The Stormy Decade, can be seen on Canadian Learning Television.

Dr. Clavier argued that a clear understanding of the developing brain is the key we need to unlock the age-old mysteries of why teens and pre-teens act the ways they act and think the way they think. Based on his extensive background in neuroscience, Dr. Clavier’s presentation addressed topics of relevance to parents of teens and pre-teens and he offered numerous coping tips and strategies designed to ease tensions and improve communications.
