Our team manages annual events including Parent Grade Parties, the Christmas Concert, Grandparents & Special Friends Day, Closing Ceremonies, Alumni Reunions, etc. We also oversee special events like our milestone Gala celebrations. Many of these events are often staffed by parent volunteers.
Fundraising includes annual donations for faculty identified items, and major and capital campaigns to raise funds for strategically identified areas. Please contact Hallie at email@example.com if you have any questions about fundraising at KCS.
Employee Matching Gift or United Way Corporate Campaigns.
Many companies match charitable donations made by employees. Check with your employer to see if they will match your donation to Kingsway College School and increase the impact your gift will have on KCS students.
You can also designate Kingsway College School as one of your charities of choice when participating in a United Way corporate campaign. Please contact Hallie at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details on this process.
Gift of securities.
By donating publicly traded securities, you eliminate the capital gains tax that you would have to pay if you sold the securities and then donated the proceeds. You will also receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation.
Consult your financial advisor to decide which investments make the most financial and philanthropic impact. Then ask your broker to transfer your securities to Kingsway College School by completing the donation form.
Yes! Kingsway College School is a not-for-profit organization and
provides the same tax incentive as donations to any other
registered charity in Canada. In Ontario you receive approximately a
20% tax credit on the first $200 and upwards of 40% on all greater
than $200. Your tax credit will be more significant with gifts of
securities or flow through shares. Tax receipts are emailed from our
Each year, Canadians are eligible for charitable tax credits from both federal and provincial governments for any donations made to KCS in the previous year or unclaimed donations for the previous years. These credits can be used to obtain taxrefunds on taxes owed.
Currently, the federal rates for charitable tax credits are 15 per cent for the first $200 donated, and 29 per cent for donations over $200 if the annual taxable income is less than $200,000. For those with a taxable income greater than $200,000, donations over $200 may receive a proportion of their tax credits at 33 per cent with conditions. Additionally, in Ontario, donations up to $200 obtain tax credit rates of 5.05 per cent and 11.16 per cent for donations greater than $200.
Therefore, while there are several personal reasons to be generous and help expand what’s possible at KCS, the act of donating can offer significant benefits to taxpayers themselves. Instead of tax dollars going directly to the government, donors can invest in KCS!
In addition to the Annual Giving Program, there are other
initiatives to which you can contribute:
Sponsorship – There are opportunities to support KCS through corporate sponsorships of specific programs or events.
Gifts in Kind – Materials and services can be donated to the school.
Planned Giving – You can make a planned gift to KCS through a
bequest in your Will or a gift of a life insurance.
We are grateful to our engaged and thoughtful community – if you
would like to support via any of the pathways above OR if you have
other ideas on how you would like to contribute, please reach out
directly to Hallie McClelland, Director of Advancement.
