Junior School Wall of Service

A tradition of giving back to our community.

Every student at the KCS Junior School is encouraged to share their personal leadership story on our Wall of Service.

This unique program highlights JK- Grade 8 KCS students who initiate acts of community service. Each time students perform an act of service, they write out what they did on a “brick” and then read it at Assembly. Examples range from donating clothes and tooth fairy money to cutting hair for cancer or leading an awareness campaign in the school.

Following the assembly, the brick is mounted on the "Wall of Service" in the Junior School foyer for all to see. And when the wall is fully built, students from JK- Grade 8 celebrate with a dress down day!

As a result of this program, students from the Junior School practise public speaking and motivate others in the community to follow their lead with a vast array of service possibilities.

Our Junior School Wall of Service is in the front lobby of the school. It was generously made and donated by the Radwanski family, in memory of Jean Hunt, grandmother of six KCS alumni, and great-grandmother to two current KCS students.

Here are a few examples of acts of service from our wall:

  • Collect toys you no longer use and take them to Goodwill, the Salvation Army, a shelter or other worthy charities or community centres.
  • Clean up garbage from a nearby park.
  • Visit a seniors’ home or a hospital. Bring baked goods or a decoration for the common room.
  • Participate in a walk-a-thon or other charity event.
  • Bring in food for a food bank drive.
  • Organize an event designed to raise money for charity (bake sale, car wash, lawn mowing etc.)
  • Contact a charity of interest and ask how you could be of service.
  • Gather a group of friends or family and volunteer at the food bank.
