French at KCS

Bonjour tout le monde!

In KCS Junior School, students study French from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, and gain a solid foundation for future French studies when they enter Senior School.

In Grades 1 to 5, we have had terrific success using the Accelerated Integrative Method (AIM). This program uses hand gestures associated with words. It is a powerful combination of oral, auditory, kinesthetic and visual learning that culminates in full class drama performances.

In Grades 6 to 8, students develop their French skills using creative projects, performances, and presentations. Daily emphasis is placed on active participation exclusively in French to enhance students’ abilities to read, write, listen, and speak confidently.

Technology is incorporated whenever possible to provide an engaging 21st century French language learning experience. Our main goals are to prepare students for future French studies and to instill a love of, and appreciation for, languages that will last throughout their lives.
